Classroom 7
Art supples for the teachers of Nebraska
As Connie thought about the difficulties that Panhandle area teachers face when providing art supplies to their students, she realized she had a way to help. Standing in the hallway of Central School, she had the idea for a community based, no-cost resource for teachers: Classroom 7. Classroom 7 is a location where members of the community can donate materials, and where teachers can pick them up.
Classroom 7 will keep good things out of the trash, will support the hard working teachers of Nebraska, and will be a source of community pride. But most importantly, it will help our kids.
Since beginning this resource, the response has been overwhelming. Keep Alliance Beautiful, a local non-profit group, recycles a lot of things they find when people clean out their homes. In the past all the arts and crafts and hobby materials went into the trash. Keep Alliance Beautiful will now pick these materials up, inventory them, and make them available through the Classroom 7. Members of the community have already donated materials, and some have committed to volunteer. Chadron State College has expressed interest in providing excess and re-usable materials to the project.
