Alliance Project
December 2007 | Alliance, Nebraska
Newberry Building
The State of Nebraska has given historical status to the Newberry building. We intend to listen to the people in Alliance through open houses to ultimately determine what will be included in our historic preservation. We would like to compliment the existing businesses on Box Butte Avenue to create a vibrant downtown.
Elaine’s Art Studio will remain her own. Elaine has been in business for many years, and we wish her many more.
Frankle Building
The Frankle Building is currently being remodeled and will be the new home of the chamber of commerce and other businesses will be on the street level. We have taken out seven layers of flooring to get to the original oak floor. We’ve taken off all the plaster back to the original brick walls and we are in the process of repairing and bringing back the original tin ceiling. When the doors are open, stop in and take a peek. The upstairs will be remodeled to include approximately eight apartments, they will be brought up to code with new energy efficient, state of the art appliances.
Central School
Central School is currently being used for professional offices. We have plans to install a new heating and air conditioning unit to make these offices comfortable throughout the four seasons.
Our Plan
We plan to work with the community to use our buildings to promote Alliance and to provide jobs and opportunities. We will consider indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and resource conservation in all of our design work, as part of our green businness principal.
Green business principals will be applied to our built structures as well as to our food and manufacturing processes. To do any less would be to continue the waste of over- consumption without proper conservation.
Green business principals are a thought process before becoming a business transaction. Green living then becomes how you move through the world. It is not based on how many dollars you spend but on how you consciously make informed decisions about how your dollars are spent.
